Camping
Sleep under the stars
Is it possible to read by starlight? This is a question you might ponder in the forests around Land O’ Lakes, where the constellations are impossibly bright when viewed through a break in the woodland canopy. The forests, wilderness areas and campgrounds around Land O’ Lakes include hundreds of campsites, including sites that you can access by car, some that require a long backcountry hike and many that are just an easy walk into the woods. Private campgrounds offer sites with all the amenities. There are also campgrounds in the Ottawa National Forest, Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, Tamarack Springs Campground and the Sylvania Wilderness Area. All have sites, including many where you can camp right on the shore of a wild lake. This is beautiful, wild country, filled with sparkling lakes and endless forests.
Land O’ Lakes is a great base of operations for a camping adventure. Local outfitters have all the maps, gear and advice you’ll need in the backcountry. Take time to enjoy a last hot meal in town – and return to celebrate your camping adventure!
